„ Recycling counts “

District 191 Croatia project presentation took place in Čakovec on 20th of January 2018

Distict 191 Croatia acts this year under motto „ Recycling counts! “. The desire is to place the global issue locally, to actualize it, provide information, point out positive practice, call on action, and act on our own, because every effort is valuable.

IW Club of Čakovec, which chairs the District this year under the District Chairman Snježana Pertović Tkalčec collected "used" books and offered them to the new readers.  Additionally, they collected unnecessary toys from parents of kids in the kindergartens. Toys were cleaned, selected and donated to kindergartens. In successfully cooperation with the eco association Nobilis IW lub of Čakovec also designed an e-flyer.  They are very proud on special recycling project which has been run in cooperation with all the vocational schools in Čakovec. Convinced that it is always worthwhile to direct the attention of the public to such positive examples they encouraged them to play. All the works were made of waste materials. Special attention was drawn to the dragon ( named Pozoj) created from the newspaper by the toads from kindergarten. The legend about the dragon was written by IW member Vesna Kalšan and some schools made objects with dragon motif.

Other Croatian Inner Wheel clubs emphasize this theme through organization of educational activities such as lectures and presentations about problems of waste disposal and importance of recycling. Some examples of good practice are collection of paper, plastic and plugs, workshops of reuse of recyclable materials in kindergartens and schools.
