The Project

In 2016 the Board of the IW District 199 – Switzerland and Liechtenstein – designated the Swiss Red Cross project – “Holidays for children in difficult life situations, especially coming from crisis and war areas” to their social project for 3 years. This project responds perfectly to their expectations and targets as well as to the regulations of International Inner Wheel.

The Swiss Red Cross commits itself in different ways in the crises of the refugees. Since 2016, they organise a summer holiday camp for children between 9 and 13 years.

The camp takes place in a holiday and sports centre in Fiesch/Wallis which offers full board as well as various sports facilities, like sports and playgrounds, and even a swimming pool.

In this holiday camp the children recover, learn together and get support for their integration in Switzerland.

The Cooperation

  1. IW Switzerland-Liechtenstein offers financial support for the SRC-Project within the realm of possibilities.
  2. IW Switzerland-Liechtenstein helps and finances a day’s outing for the children and helpers during the camp.
  3. IW Switzerland-Liechtenstein supports the SRC personal assistance with :

a.  3-5 helpers during the whole camp (8 days),

b.  10 helpers at the day’s outing.

Personal Assistance

The children have to be accompanied throughout everyday life.

They are segmented in groups and accompanied by several counsellors. Each year the Swiss District 199 is looking for Inner Wheel members who would like to join the team of counsellors during the camp and for helpers to attend the day trip.
